Mrs. Wynell Meeks
October 10, 2007
Mrs. Wynell Meeks Associates in Business Administration, BA in Elementary Education, minor in mathematics, Master's Degree in Education Administration. I am certified 1-8 teaching and K-12 for principal. I have been working with children for over twenty-three years. As a Jr. in high school I started substituting for the elementary children when substitutes were not available. As a Sr. in high school I substituted in kindergarten for three weeks and in third grade for a week when the teachers were out having surgery. I guess I was destined to become a teacher. While in college I began volunteering at the school where my children attended and ended up working in the office and substituting there. After earning my BA degree in education, I taught a year in high school in Arkansas. Then a year in Oklahoma 4th – 6th grades math and science. I planned to retire at that school in Oklahoma, but a higher power had other plans for my life. My husband Dusty and I moved our family to West Texas and became houseparents at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch. This was a learning experience for me. I realized that everyone has the capacity to learn, they may not have an environment in which they can learn. Home life plays an important part in a child’s education. After Boys Ranch I taught 7th and 8th grade math for two years in Pampa, Texas. My husband and I missed the trees and the beauty of Arkansas and had the opportunity to move to Mount Pleasant which is only an hour from where we were raised. I began teaching at Winfield in 1997. I love this school. The parents are the absolute best. I have to agree with William Ellery Channing, that “It is a greater work to educate a child, in the true and larger sense of the word, than to rule a state.” I would like to take this opportunity to thank each one of my students, past and present, for the gift you have given to me over the years. The lessons that I have learned from you and the love you have given me. You are each and everyone a blessing sent from the heavens above. Thank you.
Mrs. Meeks
